Is it possible to get flat feet from wearing slippers?

My sister claims that is how she got hers. I live in Hawaii and most people wear slippers all day. I have young kids who wear slippers a lot. Should I have them wear shoes more to prevent flat feet?

Is it possible to get flat feet from wearing slippers?
Slippers generally do not have adequate arch support, so, in short, yes, one could develop fallean arches over time.
Reply:Yes: wearing regular tennis shoes provide more arch to your feet than slippers would . You do know wearing slippers to much in your life will result in bad knees and ankles (most common way to get arthritis) once you get that, there%26#039;s no cure for it . Not only do they look stupid but they are stupid.(lol). So stop wearing that crap.(lol).
Reply:No direct connection between flat feet and slippers wearing. Anatomically, genetically, and physiologically.

Medical references do not mention it.
Reply:You are either born with or without flat feet. I have never heard of anyone developing flat feet. To suggest that you can develop flat feet from wearing sandals all day is obsurd.
Reply:flat feet is congenital defect in feet arches but this will lead to very big feet
Reply:no, but it can cause permenantly twisted ankles from bad walking habits. Make sure you wear regular shoes every once in a while
