Did You Wear Heels or Slippers?

I%26#039;m getting married June 30th, I%26#039;m debating on whether or not, I%26#039;m going to wear heels or slippers? What shoes did you wear under your bridal gown? My dress is poofy %26amp; long...

Did You Wear Heels or Slippers?
You may want to think about how each shoe would work with your dress.

I have to wear heels with mine because my dress has trim around the bottom of the skirt and it can only be hemmed a certain amount. I%26#039;m short-ish (5%26#039;4) and in order to have the dress look right, I%26#039;m going to have to be in 3 inch heels.

However, that being said, I%26#039;m not getting skinny heels, I%26#039;m getting a thicker heel so I will feel more stable. I am also getting an ankle boot (like a Victorian boot), so I will have more support that way as well.

If you can go either way, I%26#039;d think flats would be much more comfortable. With a long dress, no one will really ever get to see what shoes you%26#039;re wearing. I know someone who wore sneakers under her wedding gown. If you go with heels, I%26#039;d suggest not getting something very thin. If you could get a second pair of shoes to wear to get used to it (it could just be a similar style), that probably wouldn%26#039;t be a bad idea either.
Reply:congrats. I%26#039;m getting married on June 30th too!!! woohoo.

I%26#039;m wearing sandals all day. You cant see them under the dress, and its much more comfy than heels.
Reply:You might as well be comfortable if they%26#039;re going to be covered, unless you need or like the added height of heels. I vote slipper.

Myself? I%26#039;m having a beach wedding, so no shoes and sandals for the reception.
Reply:I wore flat white strappy sandals.

Comfortable!!!

Go for comfort. People can%26#039;t see what you%26#039;re wearing anyways!!
Reply:I wore a nice, low- wide heel shoe. I knew I would be standing alot so I wore something, that would be more comfortable but still look elegant. The only thing I would suggest is break in any new shoe prior to the wedding date. My shoes rubbed against my ankle all night. I finally found a clear band-aid to put on the shoe where it was rubbing my ankle and that helped it feel better.
Reply:Both!
Reply:I wore flat dressy slingbacks. Hubby is only a few inches taller than me.
Reply:Flats for the ceremony, barefoot for the reception. I%26#039;m 6%26#039; tall, so heels was never an option for me, but if you do, remember that your hemline will be fit to the heels and will be dragging on the floor during the reception if you switch to slippers.
Reply:I wore heels and regretted every socond of it. Wear flats.
Reply:My husband and I are the same height so I wore flats. I most likely would have anyway. No one can see your shoes under a long dress so go with what%26#039;s most comfortable! It%26#039;ll be a long enough day for you without having to worry about sore feet. Congrats and good luck!!
Reply:Do consider that heels do more than give you height and look nice. They actually change the way you walk and stand. Heels will give you a much more elegant gait, which would be nice at the ceremony and the beginning part of the reception (the intros, first dances, etc.), and in the photos. If you%26#039;re not used to wearing heels and don%26#039;t think you can stand them all day and night, then put the heels on just before walking up the aisle and change out of them after the first few dances and posed photos. Also, break them in well before the wedding by wearing them around the house as much as possible between now and the wedding so that they are comfortable. And, as an earlier poster pointed out, you don%26#039;t have to have stilletto heels--chunkier heels or platforms will be more comfortable because they give more support. Best wishes!
Reply:I think that you should wear heels because if your dress is long you will have less of a chance to slip on it. And like thebride52008 said buy shoes that look like your heels and have them be flats. This will be more comfortable and you will have more fun. I was recently at a wedding were the bridesmaids had shoes and the bride had shoes the color of the bridesmaids dresses. It was very creative!!!!
Reply:I wore heels for the wedding itself then changed into some thicker soled white beaded flip flops for the reception so I didn%26#039;t have throbbing feet from dancing, but still got to keep the height so my dress wouldn%26#039;t drag....worked out well for me, I just had them put the flops behind my cake table and when I was ready for them I switched!
Reply:My dress was long and you couldn%26#039;t see my feet... period. My husband and I are about the same height so heels were out. I knew slippers were out because it was snowing... so I just wore my favorite crocs! I know it seems silly but no one knew and when I told them later everyone got a good laugh. I was comfy and my feet didn%26#039;t hurt... unlike all the times I%26#039;ve been forced to wear uncomfortable heels as a bridesmaid!
Reply:I%26#039;ve got little heels to wear with my dress, I think they are about 2inches high. As our reception is taking place at my sister in law%26#039;s home they have requested the guests to wear flat shoes (so as not to damage their wooden floors) so at the reception I am gonna change into ballet type shoes.
Reply:Heels- I am wearing small heels -Kate Spades.

It%26#039;s best to walk in the church in heels so you look elegant and then change them later for the reception if needed.
Reply:Both. For the ceremony and pictures I wore heels. For the rest of the day/evening, I wore slippers - a pair of ivory-colored Isotoner slippers.

I also gave each of my bridesmaids a pair of Isotoners as a part of their thank-you-gift, so they could be comfy, too!
Reply:i am wearing really cute white ballet flats. you won%26#039;t see my feet anyways, and they are very comfortable. and i can probably even wear them again.
Reply:I think it really depends on what shoes you wore to have your alterations done. If you wore heels for the alterations and the hem is set at that length, your dress will be far too long if you wear flats. If you were barefoot the whole time the alterations were done, the hem might appear too short if you wear heels. Comfort wise, I really want to wear slippers at least for the reception, but I%26#039;ll probably wear low heels for the ceremony and have the hem of my gown in a place where it will be appropriate for both. Anyway, check the length of the hem of your dress before you decide. Look in the mirror wearing heels and then barefoot or with the flats on and see if which one the hem is an appropriate length for. If it will work either way, then go for comfort.
Reply:My gown came just to the tops of my feet (very Pride and Prejudice in style), and I wore bright red Scottish dancing ghillies. It looked fabulous, and my feet were comfortable all day long.

Part of your answer depends on where you%26#039;re getting married. Is it outside? Is there a chance of heels sinking in the grass? Then flats would be the best choice. Are you indoors? Then choose by what will make your feet happiest.

Some women are comfortable in heels all day. Others - like me - can trip off our heels in flats. Are you comfortable in heels? How high? With a poofy long gown, you can literally wear anything from absolute flats to five-inch heels and look fine, so concentrate on what will make your feet happy.

Choose attractive shoes (not sneakers!) that your feet will be comfortable in all through the party as well as the ceremony, have the gown hemmed to properly work with the shoes you%26#039;ve chosen, and have a great time at your wedding. I%26#039;m sure you%26#039;ll look and feel gorgeous!
Reply:I%26#039;m going to wear so sort of flat shoe. I am getting married July 14th outside, so flats are best for my situation.
Reply:I wore heels for the wedding then after pictures at the reception I changed into slippers. No matter what you wear your feet are going to ache at the end of the night!!!

Congratulations on the wedding.
Reply:I was going to wear flats, but some of the photos were of me lifting my dress, so I wore Nina brand heels that I bought at Ross the day before my wedding. They were so comfortable that I kept them on the whole night, even though my emergency bag contained white flip flops-just in case!

Have your tailor bustle your dress so that you can wear either one-low or high heels. I am glad I did, and you will be too.

Best wishes to you!
Reply:you couldn%26#039;t see my feet under my dress so I bought a pair of white KEDS and used lace ribbon instead of shoelaces and took fabric paint and wrote just married on the back in silver... they were silly and fun and I wore them everyday on the honeymoon
Reply:Why dont you wear heels for the cermony and pictures and when you get to the party wear slippers.
